5K - 10K- 1mi Fun Run
Central Lake, Michigan, 11th annual Ryan Shay Mid Summer Night Run. In memory of Ryan Shay who grew up in Central Lake and was an 11 times state champion in track and cross-country, 10 times All-American at the University of Notre Dame, 10,000 meter NCAA champion, 5 times USA National Champion, and represented the United States in competition throughout the world. On November 3, 2007, Ryan passed away from sudden heart failure while competing in the US Olympic Marathon Trials. Choose from the 5k run/walk, 10k run, or the ​Fudgee’s Ice Cream 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5k and 10k courses will cover roads and trails where Ryan often trained while living in Central Lake.    All events take place in the evening.

Race Information:  7:00 p.m. 5k and 10k point-to-point races start at Thurston Park on Old State Street east of downtown Central Lake and end at the high school track on M88 south of town.  8:00 p.m. Fudgee’s Ice Cream 1 Mile Fun Run at high school track on M88 south of town.

Pre Registration Packet pick-up: 
Thurston Park 4:30 p.m- 6:30 p.m. race day


Amenities:  Rest rooms and water available; Post race refreshments;  Awards ; T-shirts guaranteed to all preregistered participants; goody bags; 2 water stations 5K and 3 water stations for 10K; professional timing; professional Fireworks after dusk

Plaque awards to overall and masters male/female winners; 1st-3rd medals all categories:

14 under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 49-54,-55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+

Proceeds:  
Support the Ryan Shay Memorial Scholarships. No refunds available.

Entry Fee: 
5k and 10k   $25 / $30 after May 31st               1 Mile fun run  $10  (add $5 for a T-shirt)

Once submitted, make checks payable to  Shay Memorial Foundation (SMF) and mail to P.O. Box 342, Central Lake, MI  49622. Write name(s) of participants on check, or include a copy of entry form(s). Note: Registration will not be valid until payment is received. Allow time for mail.
